What is the Youth Advisory Leadership Council?
It is a program that is youth lead that provides youth with leadership and communication skills. This program naturally serves as a space for youth to interact with others who share similar experiences, and support and hold one another accountable. It is often, the only place members of YALC can be themselves. However, YALC is meant to empower and develop youth who want to make a difference in their community alongside YES Institute staff. Instead of speaking and relating to youth as victims and helpless, YALC empowers and coaches the members and relates to them as BIG people who aren’t defined by their past, trauma, diagnoses, or experiences.
Mission: To empower and coach youth leaders to lead YES Institute’s education to support its vision of a community where all youth are free of suicide, violence, and discrimination.

Requirements:
- Be between the ages of 13-21 years old
- Reside in Miami-Dade County
- Complete our 2-day Communication Solutions™ course
- Have your own transportation, or use ride-sharing, public transportation, or your own personal car.
YES Institute staff will not be providing transportation for youth.
