Youth Empowerment Council

YES Institute offers a youth program that provides young people the opportunity to grow and enhance their leadership and communication skills. The Youth Empowerment Council (YEC) is a program for youth (ages 13-18) to interact with others who share similar experiences, and to support and hold one another accountable. 

Supervised by YES Institute staff, YEC empowers and develops youth who want to become leaders and make a difference in their community. Sessions will be held virtually for 1.5 hours every First Tuesday and Third Friday of the month.

The mission of YES Institute’s Youth Empowerment Council is: To empower and coach youth to lead YES Institute’s education to support its vision of a community where all youth are free of suicide, violence, and discrimination.

Requirements to join YEC:

  • Be between the ages of 13-18 years old
  • Reside in the South Florida Counties of Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach.
  • Complete our Communication Solutions™ or our Communication Toolbox course
  • Complete the YEC application (see below)
  • Parent/Guardian signs the YEC Permission Form
