Sony Music Latin’s DE&I Task Force teamed up with Sony Music Group’s SOMOS Affinity Group for a timely discussion on “Reclaiming Macho: A Conversation Unpacking & Redefining Machismo” facilitated by YES Institute.
This dialogue brought in Sony Music Group employees across North & Central America to examine their own lens of machismo, ask themselves how they experience masculinity, and hear from one of our volunteers, Noah Pantaleon, who vulnerably shared about his gender transition as a Cuban and how he managed internal and external expectations.
Participants redefined macho similarly to the ways artists and celebrities push beyond the gender binaries in their expression of clothing, emotions, and interactions.
We are grateful to be invited to lead this conversation with the staff of Sony Music Group.
