On the last day of the school year, the YES Institute team was invited to facilitate a conversation with teachers and staff at the Miccosukee School. Participants shared how much they wanted to learn, how new some of these conversations around gender and orientation were to them, and how much they wanted to understand to better support their students.
Everyone’s purpose aligned: maintaining a respectful environment where students felt and knew that they belonged. Teachers shared how much there is to learn for themselves on these topics and appreciated being allowed to ask uncomfortable questions safely and without judgement.
We are grateful to be invited into the hearts and minds of teachers, administration, staff and parents.
