Our unique approach to interaction and education is based on a communication model that effectively engages the entire community, welcoming and including diversity of thought and experience. Communication Toolbox stems from the distinctions in our Communication Solutions™ course, providing insight into “right vs. wrong” and “us vs. them” dynamics that can lead to breakdowns and interrupt relatedness.
The distinctions in our communication series connect people to a common purpose, even when they strongly disagree. In this course participants will gain practical tools for relating authentically, working across lines of difference, and cultivating environments where all feel seen, heard, and included.
Learning Objectives
- Communicate effectively on topics of gender and orientation in a manner that facilitates open, authentic communication, rather than conflict or confrontation.
- Create an environment where people authentically respond with emotion, share beliefs, and reveal fears usually withheld in public discussions.
- Overcome positions of “right vs. wrong” and “us vs. them,” and provide ways to generate actions and produce win/win results.
- Engage in purposeful dialogue that is not based on a need to agree, but instead connects people to the common purpose of keeping youth safe.
- Have an opportunity to create action plans to make a difference for youth and families in your community at the interpersonal and institutional levels.
