Tim Wagoner is a self-taught technology expert whose innovative approach enhances every aspect of YES Institute’s operations. With over two decades of dedicated service, Tim currently serves as the Executive Director of Administration, overseeing strategic planning, financial management, donor relations, and technology infrastructure. He plays a critical role in ensuring the organization’s efficiency, sustainability, and growth.
Tim is responsible for managing logistics for YES Institute’s events, courses, and physical space, ensuring seamless execution of educational programs and community dialogues. His leadership extends to financial oversight, grant applications, and donor engagement, working alongside the Board of Directors and staff to secure funding and expand the organization’s impact. A creative problem-solver and strategist, Tim is instrumental in growing YES Institute’s fee-for-service programs and identifying new opportunities to advance its mission.
With a deep passion for technology, Tim evaluates and implements digital tools to optimize operations, maintain the security of organizational data, and develop YES Institute’s Learning Management System. He oversees website functionality, internal systems, and IT support, ensuring that technological solutions align with the organization’s evolving needs. His ability to integrate cutting-edge innovations has transformed the way YES Institute reaches and educates its audience.
Beyond his administrative and technical expertise, Tim finds the most fulfillment in witnessing the personal growth of students and interns. He is deeply inspired by those who, through YES Institute’s programs, develop confidence and self-expression, ultimately making an impact in their own communities.
A defining moment in Tim’s life was his participation in a 545-mile charity bicycle ride to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS. Diagnosed as HIV positive in 1988, he had never actively engaged in related causes until taking on this transformative challenge. That first ride in 2009 ignited his passion for fundraising and advocacy. For the next 6 years, Tim personally raised over $40,000 and led teams that have collectively raised more than $350,000. This experience marked the beginning of his personal development as a fundraiser and his dedication to supporting meaningful causes and making a lasting impact.
Tim’s journey with YES Institute began in 2003 when he attended the Communication Solutions™ course. Expecting to learn how to communicate his own needs more effectively, he instead discovered the power of listening—an insight that reshaped his perspective on leadership and human connection. This pivotal moment inspired him to volunteer, later leading to a full-time role where he has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s growth.
As a leader, Tim is known for his relentless curiosity, analytical thinking, and visionary mindset. He not only solves complex challenges but also dreams up innovative ways to expand YES Institute’s impact. His expertise, coupled with his commitment to personal and organizational growth, makes him a driving force behind the institute’s mission of fostering communication and education on gender and orientation.
