How does a high school community build bridges of understanding when uncomfortable conversations arise?
Our team led a workshop for an entire school community with their teachers, staff, administration and 800 high school students providing communication tools through the context of Empathy.
It is often difficult to hear one another when we are unable to hear ourselves. This is why the team explored radical self-empathy and acknowledged where everyone in the audience was in relation to life. This created space to dig deeper into listening exercises, sharing vulnerable real life scenarios, and demonstrating the difference between empathy and sympathy.
Thank you to NSU USchool for inviting the team and leading your Week on Human Dignity and Inclusion with a dialogue on Empathy.
