How do you support young people when you may not understand what they’re experiencing?
When parents and families call YES Institute asking for resources to learn more about what their child is going through around gender and orientation, we invite them to explore the topics first hand in our courses. This provides a personal understanding of the ways in which gender and orientation impacts the parents, their child, and the world at large. Parents and families often walk away with a deep appreciation for new found knowledge, tools, and resources that they were unaware of before.
Young people share that they feel seen, heard, and better understood by their parents and families after attending one of our courses particularly around their pronouns and expression of self. Those who actively engage in our courses express gratitude for the opportunity to have deep and vulnerable conversations around their personal experiences with gender and orientation.
School communities often ask what they can do for their students and families especially for students who have diverse gender and orientation experiences. YES Institute facilitates dialogues for the participants to have the knowledge for themselves, experience their own breakthroughs, and create their own solutions.
One particular teacher from a private school who took our course a few years ago walked in with questions about gender and she left inspired. She saw a gap in school curricula and created a possibility to teach a women’s studies class at the school. The class itself continues to be a welcoming space for students.
To create these possibilities for your young people, register in one of our upcoming courses.
