Celebrating Partnership & Inviting U In

We are deeply grateful to the University of Miami (UM) for being such a dedicated and long-standing partner in our community work. Together, we’ve created opportunities for meaningful dialogue and learning across the University—leading our Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) course New Thinking on Concepts of Gender for the second semester in a row, collaborating with UM‘s Center for HIV & Mental Health (CHARM), and offering workshops with psychology, medicine, and counseling programs over the course of many years.

Our guest lectures to undergraduate and graduate students, first-year medical students and pediatric residents at the Mailmen Center for Child Development, to research collaborations and engagement with the LGBTQ Student Center and First Star Academy summer program, UM has welcomed us into opportunities where we can advance learning and create caring environments for youth and families.

We’re excited to extend this same spirit of learning and community to our upcoming public courses on Zoom:

Essentials of Gender and Orientation – Tuesday, September 30, 6:00 pm–8:30 pm
More and more young people are openly identifying and expressing themselves with diverse experiences of gender and sexual orientation. How can we ensure all young people feel included and safe? Join us for an interactive session to discuss growing awareness and learn practical tools, best practices, and strategies for creating caring communities and school environments that welcome all youth experiences.

Resiliency and Burnout Prevention – Tuesday, October 21, 6:00 pm–8:00 pm
This workshop is designed to help individuals recognize, understand, and manage stress before it escalates into burnout. Participants will explore the stress response (how the body and mind react under pressure) and learn practical, evidence-based strategies to reduce stress and increase resiliency in the face of difficult times.

We invite you to join these upcoming sessions and continue building the kind of caring, connected communities we’ve been proud to create with the University of Miami.
