YES Institute received multiple requests for programs on communication and well-being during the past 3 weeks. We engaged in dialogues with the Patient Navigators of the Promise Fund Palm Beach and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward. We provided communication tools for setting healthy boundaries and meeting personal needs.
One Promise Fund participant shared, “Made me think about EVERY aspect of my life. I appreciated the inclusion of different possibilities when changing behaviors.”
YES Institute continues to support the medical community at the University of Miami. Alongside our funding partner, ViiV Healthcare, we provided undergraduate nursing students with tools for inclusive medical practices. Marco of ViiV shared a powerful history of HIV in the United States. We were also invited to lead a conversation on Best Practices When Working with Gender and Orientation Diverse Populations for clinical pediatric psychology residents at the University of Miami.
We were also invited by the Beyond Gender Conference in West Palm Beach to conduct a session on communication and life coaching skills to work on empowerment, wellness, and resiliency for gender diverse people and their families. Some of the conference keynote speakers included Sara Cunningham, the founder of Free Mom Hugs, who shared about her journey as a woman of faith towards unconditional love for her gay son.
