Stop Parenting Alone
As a child development expert and psychotherapist I have experienced first hand what gender norms and societal beliefs around orientation can do to a human’s developmental journey. We are telling boys not to cry and be brave as early as 4 years old, and girls, by the time they are 12, have learned to “be nice and sweet” and choose relationships over achievement. In my experience, this is done with the best of intentions but with minimal knowledge of how we develop within the spectrum of gender and orientation. I am honored to be a member of the Board of Directors of YES Institute, because I am certain that the work, mission and vision will transform these perspectives and create a community where all can be seen and accepted for their authenticity and individuality.
