Citrus Health Network was experiencing an increase in negative patient complaints. In 2017, their adaptations to gay, transgender, and gender non-binary patients, rated by an independent agency, scored only 49%. After just one year of engaging with YES Institute and providing dialogues, courses, and video-based training, their adaptation score increased to 70%. Citrus also implemented consultation recommendations from YES Institute and updated their patient intake form and electronic health records to be more inclusive to gay, transgender and gender non-binary populations. Citrus is now actively compliant with nearly all of the best practices recommended by their accrediting agency, The Joint Commission.
