When Efrain Sora first learned that his daughter Roxy is gay, he relied on his faith to guide him.“I was worried, and it tested my relationship with God, but I know that she’s still my daughter—the same person she’s always been—and I’m very proud of her.”
YES Institute’s education and communication tools have supported Efrain and Roxy in strengthening their relationship while staying true to their beliefs. Today both Roxy and Efrain contribute financially to YES Institute, and support other families who are confronting fears and have conflicting views around gender and orientation.
Inspired by their commitment, YES Institute is laying the groundwork for a series of interfaith dialogues, where people of all faiths can come together to explore solutions for keeping all youth safe and families connected. Thank you, Roxy and Efrain, for your leadership and vision!
