As precise data among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth presents a challenge for researchers to collect and analyze, we quote these statistics and their sources not as a definitive compilation, but rather a collection of the most current scientific surveys, studies, and research available to the public.

• In the 2003 - 2004 shcool year, there were 48 total school deaths. [11]

11. According to National School Safety and Security Services, a Cleveland-based firm that tracks school violence, their were 48 deaths during the August 2003 through June 2004 school-year. This equals more than the past two school years combined and more than any year in the past decade.
