Welcome To YES Institute

Vision - A community in which all youth develop as healthy individuals free of suicide, violence, and discrimination.

Mission - To prevent suicide and ensure the healthy development of all youth through powerful communication and education on gender and orientation.

Martha Fugate, YES Institute Co-Founder, leading a training for Volusia County Schools.

YES Institute is a recognized leader in providing powerful, action-oriented dialogue and quality research-based education on gender and orientation.

YES began as a community-based initiative in 1996 to address the high rates of teenage suicide impacting young people who identified or were labeled as gay. In 2003, YES Institute added cutting-edge education courses on gender.

Each year, we conduct over 140 community dialogues and courses for a wide variety of communities, parents and students, nurses and medical personnel, school teachers and administrators, counselors and psychologists, business executives, police departments, and other non-profit organizations and human service organizations.

Our continuing education curriculum is accredited by the Florida Department of Health and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the 4th largest school district in the U.S. Courses and presentations are available in both English and Español. Our programs parallel research-based intervention models supported by community psychology and social change scholars.

YES Institute, based in Miami, Florida, reaches communities across the country and Latin America, including Alabama, Georgia, New York, and Bogota, Colombia and Cuernavaca, Mexico. People travel to Miami from all over the world to participate in our courses, including participants from Australia, Italy, South Africa, and Kenya.
