More and more youth are expressing themselves around gender and orientation in unfamiliar ways. People in every segment of the community are struggling to respond appropriately. In this course, we provide an introduction to the latest research on gender and orientation, and address common questions and concerns: What causes people to be gay? What is “transgender”? What are the preferred terms to use?
Bullying and violence continue to impact students of all ages. This entry-level course examines the link between gender and harassment, and begins to unravel myths, stereotypes, and misconceptions that contribute to unsafe environments. Interactive exercises, video clips, and group discussions provide critical information for keeping youth safe. Whether this is a new or familiar conversation, students, parents, teachers, and service providers all benefit from taking this course.
